On Thursday, October 18, the Young Visionaries hosted their first "friend-raising" event, intended to spread the word about Hadley’s mission of educating blind people worldwide and to recruit new members to the group. Attendees enjoyed spirits and appetizers at Casey Moran's, a sports bar in Wrigleyville, and socialized while learning more about Hadley.
The Young Visionaries were founded last year with the goal of raising awareness about blindness and the mission of The Hadley School for the Blind amongst young community members. This event was the perfect opportunity to kick back and relax while learning about an important cause. Hadley Young Visionaries mingled with invitees and answered questions about Hadley, blindness, and Hadley’s impact on students worldwide. Hadley staffers, Josie Whetstone, Media and Marketing Specialist and Young Visionaries liaison and Tom Tobin, vice president of development and communications, were on hand to talk about Hadley and encourage attendees to consider joining the group of young Hadley ambassadors.
This successful event was the first of many Young Visionaries-hosted social gatherings. If you are interested in learning more or attending an event, please contact the youngvisionaries@hadley.edu, or call 800-323-4238 and reference the group.
