NIB Business Basics

Advance your skills and prepare for success by enrolling in NIB Business Basics.

What is Business Basics?
The National Industries for the Blind (NIB) and The Hadley School for the Blind now offer distance education courses to you. Upon successful completion of each NIB Business Basics course, a Certificate of Achievement will be awarded by the Hadley School. Upon completion of all five courses, NIB and associated agency employees will receive an NIB Certificate of Completion from NIB.

Who can enroll?
Employees of NIB or an associated agency who are visually impaired, meet Hadley's eligibility requirements and are interested in earning an NIB Certificate of Completion for completion of the Business Basics course series.

Clients of NIB or an associated agency who are visually impaired, meet Hadley's eligibility requirements and are interested in earning a Hadley School for the Blind Certificate of Achievement upon course completion. Clients of NIB or its associated agencies enroll through the Adult Continuing Education (ACE) and High School Program links.

When can I enroll?

How much does it cost?
All courses are tuition-free. There is no charge for course materials. Your only cost is your commitment of time and diligence.

Are there any prerequisites?
Before beginning your first course, you will complete a short Entrance Assignment. The Entrance Assignment is similar to many Hadley lesson assignments, and is a good orientation on how distance education works. Upon successfully completing the Entrance Assignment, you will be automatically enrolled in the first course you selected on your online application. The Entrance Assignment is available to you in the following formats: braille (B), cassette (C), large print (LP)or online (OL).

How are courses taught?
Study anytime, anywhere. All courses are taught through distance education and are available in the following formats: braille (B), cassette (C), large print (LP) and online (OL). Course formats are noted with the description of the courses. A credentialed instructor will grade your lesson assignments and provide feedback. Your Hadley instructor is available through email and by a toll-free phone number to help you with any course-related questions.

To Enroll
Complete and submit NIB Business Basics Enrollment Application. Upon receipt of the application, an NIB representative will be notified to provide Hadley with verification of your eye condition. As an NIB referral you are NOT required to complete The Hadley School for the Blind Eye Report form.
