Which forum am I in?

Assuming your screen reader allows you to use the letter t to jump to tables, press control+home, press t and the column and row numbers will be voiced followed by the name of the forum you are in.

Otherwise, press control+home, select the "Skip to main content" link, then arrow down a few times to find the name of the forum you are currently in.

How do I quickly find the link so I can read all the new posts?
1. Press the appropriate key combination of your screen reader to bring up the links list.

2. Type the letter v until you find, "View all new posts" and press enter.

Otherwise, use your screen reader's find feature and search for the phrase "view all new" without the quotes.

OK, I'm on the page with all the new posts. How do I quickly find the first one?
Press control+home to jump to the top of the current page. The author of the message is a heading. A few lines below that there is a heading labeled "post" which is right next to the title. The message text begins on the next line.

If your screen reader does not allow for pressing h to jump to headings then do the following:
1. Press the appropriate key combination of your screen reader to open the links list.

2. Press the Home key once.

3. Type the letter v until you find "View".

4. Arrow up once and you'll be on the title of the first new post. It won't say "title" but the text of the title is a link that you can press enter on which will take you to the page where that post can be read.

I'm in the list of the new posts but I recognize an old topic in this list. What's going on?
An old topic will appear in the new posts list if there is a new reply to that old topic.

In this links list where the titles of all the new posts are, how do I find these other new posts so I can read them?
In this list, every View link has the associated new post title right above it.

OK, I've just followed one of the title links. How do I find the actual message?
Press control+home to jump to the top of the current page. The author of the message is a heading. A few lines below that there is a heading labeled "post" which is right next to the title. The message text begins on the next line.

If your screen reader does not allow for pressing h to jump to headings then do the following:
1. Press the appropriate key combination of your screen reader to open the links list.

2. Press the Home key once.

3. Type the letter v until you find "View".

4. Arrow up once and you'll be on the title of the first new post. It won't say "title" but the text of the title is a link that you can press enter on which will take you to the page where that post can be read.

I've finished reading the first new post. How do I know if there are any replies I need to check?
Any replies will have the same headings at described in answer3. If the reply does not have a title then the "post" heading will be next to the first line of the reply message. The newest reply will be listed last on the page.

How do I reply to the original post?
You first have to find the "New reply" link by either accessing the links list and pressing the letter n until that link is located, or you can use your mouse search command to search for "New reply" without the quotes.
[Top]
I've found the "New reply" link and followed it. Now what?
You need to find either the "Post title" edit box if you would like to type in an optional title for your reply, or you need to find the edit box labeled "Your post". Of course, if you have entered a title you can tab once to reach the "Your post" edit box. Several more tabs will put you on the "Submit message button.

There is only a "New reply" link for the original post. How can I reply to a reply?
Below the body of each reply there are three links one of which is "quote". If you press enter on "quote" you will get the same "Post title" and "your post" edit boxes as explained in answer 9 above. The only difference is that the text of the reply you are replying to will appear right below the text of your new reply. It's a reference for others who might read your message without having read the original reply first.

How do I post a new message?
Posting a new message is very similar to replying. The only difference is that a new message must have a title. If there is no text in the "Post title" edit box then your message will not be posted when you press the "Submit message" button even if you then press F5 to refresh the screen.

I'm totally lost. I can't figure out where I am. What do I do?
You need to find the "Hadley Discussion Board" link with the links list or by performing a mouse search. This will take you back to the main page where all five forums are presented.

What is the "bread crumb list?"
It is a list of pages shown in logical order. They show the path you can take to get from the home page of the site to the page on which you are currently located. The last listed item is your current location.
[Top]
How can I use the "bread crumb" list to help me navigate?
Each listing is a link to a page on the site. Click or press [enter] when you are located on the link. That names the page you want. For example, if you have been reading messages in the "Technology" forum and want to go to find the messages in the "Braille" forum, Activate the Public forums link on the "bread crumb" list That is the page that lists all of the public forums. Locate the "Braille" forum and activate either that link or the "last message" link to get to the page containing the messages in the forum.
[Top]

There are several ways. One way is to activate the "skip to main content" link near the top of the Discussion Board.
[Top]
